Overview

Aldesleukin + dacarbazine is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of metastatic melanoma. Aldesleukin is a recombinant analog of interleukin-2 (IL-2), a cytokine that stimulates the proliferation and activation of lymphocytes to induce an adaptive immune response against tumor cells. Dacarbazine is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA synthesis and function in rapidly dividing cancer cells. The combination leverages both immunostimulatory and cytotoxic mechanisms to enhance antitumor activity in advanced melanoma[4][1][6]. Both agents are associated with significant toxicities and are typically administered under close medical supervision.
