Overview

Aldioxa, also known as aluminum allantoate, is a mucosal protective agent used for the treatment of gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and gastritis. It is a chemical complex consisting of aluminum and allantoin, designed to provide both protective and healing properties to the gastrointestinal lining. The drug works by forming a protective protein-binding film over ulcerated areas, shielding them from the aggressive effects of gastric acid and pepsin. Furthermore, it stimulates the production of endogenous prostaglandins and gastric mucus, and promotes the formation of granulation tissue to accelerate the repair of damaged mucosa. Aldioxa has been developed and marketed by several companies, including Taisho Pharmaceutical, and is typically administered orally in forms such as granules or tablets.
