ALE2 is an oral small molecule kinase inhibitor being developed by Alesta Therapeutics in collaboration with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Research Foundation (CMTRF). It is specifically designed for the treatment of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2D (CMT2D), a rare genetic neuropathy caused by mutations in the glycyl-tRNA synthetase (GARS) gene. Although the specific kinase target has not been publicly disclosed, the drug is intended to slow or halt the progression of the disease by modulating kinase activity associated with the CMT2D pathology. ALE2 is currently in the discovery and early preclinical stages of development, supported by funding aimed at fast-tracking its progression toward clinical trials.
