Aleeto protein is a recombinant protein therapeutic delivered via a transdermal microneedle patch, currently in Phase 2 clinical development for the treatment of idiopathic facial paralysis (Bell's palsy). The drug is specifically evaluated for safety and efficacy in adults during the recovery phase of the condition (typically 3 to 6 months post-onset). The transdermal microneedle delivery system is designed to facilitate the transport of the protein across the skin barrier to facial acupoints, aiming to promote nerve regeneration and restore facial muscle function. The development of Aleeto protein is led by Yuquan Hospital of Tsinghua University (Tsinghua University Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine) in collaboration with Beijing Aleeto Biotechnology.
