Mixed Gel is an investigational topical combination formulation developed by the University of Baghdad for use in dental implantology. It consists of alendronate sodium, a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption by targeting farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase, and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2, also known as dibotermin alfa), an osteoinductive cytokine that stimulates the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts. The gel is applied locally to the osteotomy site during dental implant placement in patients with partial edentulism to enhance primary and secondary implant stability and minimize crestal bone loss. The formulation was evaluated in a randomized controlled clinical trial (NCT04140006).
