Overview

This is a combination drug consisting of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: alendronate, fluticasone, and salmeterol. Alendronate is a bisphosphonate used primarily to treat and prevent osteoporosis by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Fluticasone is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, commonly used for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Salmeterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to improve airflow in conditions like asthma and COPD. While fixed-dose combinations of fluticasone and salmeterol are widely available for respiratory diseases, there are no known approved or marketed products combining all three agents—alendronate with fluticasone and salmeterol—in a single formulation. Each component has distinct mechanisms of action targeting different therapeutic areas.
