Overview
Aleniglipron is an orally available, non-peptide small molecule agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), developed primarily for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is designed to mimic the effects of endogenous GLP-1, promoting glucose-dependent insulin secretion, reducing appetite, and supporting weight loss. Aleniglipron has demonstrated potent activity in preclinical assays (EC50 < 0.1 nM in cAMP stimulation) and has shown clinically meaningful weight loss in Phase 2 studies with a favorable safety profile characterized mainly by transient gastrointestinal adverse events typical for GLP-1R agonists. The drug is being developed by Structure Therapeutics and Gasherbrum Bio[1][5][6][7][8].
