Overview

Alergiftalmina is an ophthalmic topical formulation developed and marketed by the Portuguese pharmaceutical company DÁVI II - Farmacêutica, S.A. It is a combination product containing two active ingredients: antazoline phosphate (5 mg/ml) and naphazoline hydrochloride (0.5 mg/ml). Antazoline is a first-generation antihistamine that acts as an antagonist at histamine H1 receptors, providing relief from allergic symptoms such as itching. Naphazoline is a sympathomimetic agent with alpha-adrenergic activity that functions as a potent vasoconstrictor and decongestant, reducing ocular redness and swelling. This small molecule formulation is indicated for the topical treatment of acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis. It is administered via the ophthalmic route and is an approved, prescription-only medication in Portugal, typically available in a 10 ml dropper bottle.
