ALF501 is an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived retinal pigment epithelial (iRPE) cell therapy developed by Allife Medical Science and Technology for the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration (dAMD). The therapy is designed to replace or support dysfunctional retinal pigment epithelial cells, which are critical for maintaining the health and function of photoreceptors in the retina. By restoring the RPE layer, ALF501 aims to preserve retinal structure and prevent the progression of geographic atrophy, thereby slowing vision loss. As an iPSC-based product, it is developed as an off-the-shelf, universal cell therapy intended to provide a standardized treatment option for patients with degenerative retinal diseases. It is currently in preclinical development.
