Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HyperAcute-Prostate (algenpantucel-P) is an investigational cancer vaccine developed for the treatment of prostate cancer. It consists of two allogeneic prostate cancer cell lines genetically modified to express alpha-Gal epitopes. The modification is designed to stimulate a robust immune response by leveraging the natural anti-alpha-Gal antibodies present in humans, thereby enhancing recognition and destruction of prostate tumor cells by the immune system. Each cell line provides broad coverage of prostate cancer antigens; they are cultured, harvested, irradiated to prevent replication, and administered separately as a vaccine. Clinical studies have shown that this immunotherapy can induce antibody responses against tumor-associated antigens and may stabilize PSA levels in some patients with advanced disease. The therapy has demonstrated a favorable safety profile in early-phase clinical trials[2].
