Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Algita DX is an oral dietary supplement and over-the-counter (OTC) formulation developed and manufactured by Labaid Pharmaceuticals. It is a combination product containing calcium carbonate derived from an algae source (equivalent to 500 mg of elemental calcium) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol, 200-400 IU). The use of algae-sourced calcium distinguishes it from traditional mineral-based calcium supplements. It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of conditions associated with calcium and vitamin D deficiency, including osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia, tetany, and hypoparathyroidism. It is also used to meet increased nutritional demands during pregnancy and lactation, or as supportive therapy for patients with kidney disease, pancreatitis, or those taking antiseizure medications.
