Algopedol

Algopedol is a 24% sucrose (saccharose) oral solution developed and distributed by Laboratoires Crinex. It is specifically designed for use in newborns and infants up to four months of age to provide comfort and manage pain during minor medical procedures, such as blood sampling, vaccinations, and dressing removals. Classified as a Class I medical device in France, the solution is preservative-free and packaged in 2 ml single-dose units. Its mechanism of action relies on the analgesic effect of oral sucrose, which is believed to stimulate the release of endogenous opioids; this effect is significantly enhanced when the administration is combined with non-nutritive sucking.
