Overview

ALGRX 1207 is a new chemical entity developed as a topical local anesthetic for pain management. Its primary mechanism of action is the blockade of fast sodium channels on neurons, which inhibits nerve signal transmission and provides local anesthesia. It was investigated for use in anesthesia and neuropathic pain, particularly cutaneous neuropathic pain, but development was discontinued after early clinical trials. The drug was originally developed by Anesiva (formerly Corgentech/AlgoRx Pharmaceuticals)[1][2][3][4][7].
