Overview

**Alhydroxiquim-II** is a ViroVax-developed vaccine adjuvant consisting of a small-molecule imidazoquinoline Toll-like receptor 7 and Toll-like receptor 8 agonist chemisorbed to aluminum hydroxide. Following administration in a vaccine formulation, the adjuvant is designed to localize to draining lymph nodes, where the small-molecule agonist activates innate immune signaling through Toll-like receptor 7 and Toll-like receptor 8 while the aluminum hydroxide component contributes adjuvant activity. It is used in Bharat Biotech's inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine Covaxin and has also been investigated preclinically as an adjuvant platform for vaccines against flaviviruses, influenza, and Mpox.
