Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aligastril is a multi-ingredient dietary supplement developed by Laboratori Aliveda for the management of gastritis, hyperacidity, functional dyspepsia, NSAID-induced gastropathy, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is available in two oral formulations: a ready-to-use gel and a dissolvable powder. The synergistic formulation combines sodium alginate, melatonin, and chamomile extract, with the powder version also containing sodium bicarbonate and chitosan. Sodium alginate reacts with gastric acid to form a viscous gel raft that floats on top of the stomach contents, creating a physical barrier that mechanically prevents acid reflux. Melatonin stimulates gastrin release to increase lower esophageal sphincter (LES) tone, inhibits gastric acid secretion, and promotes mucosal healing. Chamomile extract provides soothing, anti-inflammatory, and spasmolytic effects on the gastrointestinal tract, while sodium bicarbonate acts as a rapid antacid to neutralize excess stomach acid.
