Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aligos Therapeutics is developing a proprietary antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) program targeting the hepatitis delta virus (HDV) genome. HDV infection typically occurs as a coinfection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and is associated with more severe liver disease. This ASO is designed to bind to and trigger the destruction of the viral genome, which the company describes as uniquely suited toward a potential HDV cure strategy. As of late 2025, the program is in the preclinical stage, with ongoing work aimed at selecting a clinical development candidate. The program has been presented at scientific meetings such as the 2025 International HBV Meeting and HEP-DART 2025.
