Alimax

Alimax is a topical formulation of sodium heparin developed by Azidus Brasil for the treatment of second-degree thermal burns. While heparin is traditionally utilized as a systemic anticoagulant, its topical application in burn wounds leverages non-anticoagulant properties, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neoangiogenic effects. The drug is intended to stimulate blood flow, promote tissue repair, restore collagen, and accelerate re-epithelialization, which may reduce the necessity for invasive procedures such as debridement or skin grafting. Alimax was evaluated in a Phase 2/3 clinical trial in Brazil comparing different raw material suppliers, although the study was ultimately withdrawn.
