Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aliron is an IgM monoclonal autoantibody cloned from a patient with Idiopathic CD4 Lymphopenia (ICL). It belongs to the autoreactive VH4-34 family and recognizes membrane targets on both T and B lymphocytes. Aliron exhibits potent complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC) against B lymphocytes, showing a 100-fold higher CDC potency than the anti-CD20 antibody rituximab, and is capable of killing T cells at higher concentrations. It also induces CDC in various B-cell lymphoma cell lines. Aliron is being investigated by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for potential therapeutic applications in B-cell lymphomas and other lymphoproliferative disorders.
