aliskiren + amlodipine

Aliskiren + amlodipine is an oral fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines two agents with complementary mechanisms of action. Aliskiren is a direct renin inhibitor that blocks the activity of renin, an enzyme involved in the production of angiotensin I, thereby reducing the formation of angiotensin II and leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells, resulting in relaxation of blood vessels and further reduction in blood pressure. The combination has been shown to be more effective than amlodipine alone for lowering blood pressure. It is marketed under brand names such as Tekamlo and Rasilamlo[1][3][5][8].
