aliskiren + perindopril

Aliskiren + perindopril is a combination of two antihypertensive agents used for the management of high blood pressure (hypertension). Aliskiren is a direct renin inhibitor that blocks the activity of renin, thereby inhibiting the conversion of angiotensinogen to angiotensin I and ultimately reducing levels of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. The combination targets two different steps in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), leading to additive blood pressure-lowering effects. However, this dual blockade increases risks such as renal impairment, hyperkalemia, and hypotension—especially in patients with diabetes or kidney impairment—and is generally contraindicated in these populations[3][7][9]. Both drugs have been shown individually to reduce markers associated with renal fibrosis[2].
