Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alisma decoction (also known as Ze Xie Tang) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily composed of Alisma plantago-aquatica (Ze Xie) and Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu). It is historically documented in the 'Essentials from the Golden Cabinet' (Jin Gui Yao Lue) by Zhang Zhongjing. The decoction is traditionally used to treat phlegm-fluid retention, dizziness, vertigo, and Meniere's disease by promoting urination, draining dampness, and strengthening the spleen. Dongzhimen Hospital Affiliated to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has evaluated Alisma decoction in clinical trials for the treatment of acute-stage Meniere's disease.
