Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The **Aliya PEF system** is a medical device developed for the ablation of soft tissue using pulsed electric field (PEF) energy. It delivers high-frequency, short-duration electrical pulses to target tissues, inducing non-thermal programmed cell death by altering the transmembrane potential of cells and disrupting cellular homeostasis. This process preserves the extracellular matrix and does not denature cellular proteins. The technology can be delivered via endoscopic or percutaneous approaches and is designed for focal ablation of lesions in various tissues. Preclinical and clinical studies suggest that in addition to local tumor destruction, the release of antigens from dying tumor cells may stimulate an immune response with potential systemic effects beyond focal ablation[1][5][6]. The device has received FDA 510(k) clearance in the United States for surgical ablation of soft tissue but is not indicated to treat or cure any specific disease[2][5]. Ongoing clinical trials are evaluating its safety and efficacy in advanced cancers such as metastatic lung cancer and stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)[8].
