Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALK Diluent is a sterile, pharmacologically inactive solution manufactured by ALK-Abelló, used as a placebo control in clinical trials for allergen-specific immunotherapy. In the context of research conducted by Lars Olaf Cardell at Karolinska Institutet, it was utilized in randomized, double-blind trials evaluating intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT) for grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis. The diluent contains the standard vehicle components used in ALK-Abelló's allergen vaccines but excludes the active pollen allergens and the aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. It is administered via intralymphatic injection to serve as a comparator against active treatments like ALK Alutard 5-grasses.
