Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALK7-targeting RNAi therapies are small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutics designed to silence the expression of the ACVR1C gene, which encodes Activin receptor-like kinase 7 (ALK7). ALK7 is a type I receptor in the TGF-β superfamily predominantly expressed in adipose tissue that acts as a metabolic brake by suppressing lipolysis and promoting lipid storage. By silencing ALK7, these therapies promote lipid mobilization, increase catecholamine sensitivity, and reduce visceral adiposity while preserving lean mass, offering a novel approach for the treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases.
