All-Vent

All-Vent is a combination respiratory medication developed and manufactured by Borg Pharmaceutical Industries. It is formulated as an oral syrup containing four active ingredients: bromhexine hydrochloride, terbutaline sulphate, guaifenesin, and menthol. Terbutaline acts as a bronchodilator by stimulating beta-2 adrenergic receptors, leading to relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and improved airflow. Bromhexine serves as a mucolytic agent that reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions by fragmenting mucopolysaccharide fibers, while guaifenesin acts as an expectorant to increase the volume and reduce the stickiness of respiratory tract secretions, facilitating their removal. Menthol is included for its soothing effect on the respiratory mucosa. All-Vent is primarily indicated for the relief of productive cough associated with bronchospasm in conditions such as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, and emphysema. The syrup is sugar-free and dye-free, making it suitable for use in diabetic patients.
