Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Allercept is a veterinary allergen‑specific immunotherapy platform consisting of customized allergenic extracts formulated as subcutaneous injection “therapy shots,” sublingual “therapy drops,” and allergy treatment sets for dogs, cats, and horses. Extracts of clinically relevant environmental allergens (such as pollens, molds, dust mites, and epidermals) identified by serum IgE testing are mixed into patient‑specific formulations and administered in gradually increasing doses to induce immunologic tolerance, shifting the response from a Th2/IgE‑dominated profile toward a more balanced Th1/IgG‑mediated response with increased regulatory T-cell activity. Allercept is used as long‑term disease‑modifying therapy to reduce pruritus and other signs of atopic and allergic disease in companion animals and is produced under veterinary biological manufacturing standards by Antech Diagnostics/Heska.
