Allergenic Extract Standardized Cat Hair Acetone-Precipitated

Allergenic Extract Standardized Cat Hair Acetone-Precipitated is a sterile solution containing extractables from cat hair that has undergone an acetone precipitation process. The extract is derived from the precipitate formed when acetone is added to an aqueous extract of cat hair. It contains specific levels of Fel d 1 (cat allergen) for lot-to-lot consistency. The product is standardized in Bioequivalent Allergy Units (BAU) per milliliter and is available in concentrations of 5,000 and 10,000 BAU/mL. It is used for skin test diagnosis of patients with a history of cat allergies and for immunotherapy treatment of cat hair-induced allergic asthma, rhinitis, and conjunctivitis when allergen avoidance is not possible.
