Allergoferon

Allergoferon is a combination therapeutic developed by Firn M, consisting of recombinant human interferon alfa-2b and the antihistamine loratadine. It is indicated for the treatment of perennial and seasonal allergic conjunctivitis as well as allergic rhinitis. The mechanism of action involves interferon alfa-2b binding to the interferon alpha/beta receptor (IFNAR) to exert immunomodulatory and antiviral effects, while loratadine acts as an antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor to mitigate allergic symptoms. This combination is particularly aimed at addressing allergic inflammation while providing protection against respiratory viral infections often associated with allergic conditions. It is approved and marketed in the Russian Federation, typically in a gel formulation for topical application.
