Allergovac Hymenoptera

Allergovac Hymenoptera is a subcutaneous venom immunotherapy product containing standardized Hymenoptera venoms (typically honey bee Apis mellifera and vespid species such as Vespula spp. and Polistes dominula) used for desensitization of patients with IgE-mediated hymenoptera venom allergy who are at risk of systemic anaphylactic reactions to stings. The preparation consists of purified venom extracts formulated for gradual up‑dosing to a maintenance dose (usually around 100 µg of venom) in order to shift the immune response from an IgE‑mediated, mast cell–activating profile toward a more tolerogenic, IgG4‑dominated and T‑regulatory cell–associated response, thereby markedly reducing the risk and severity of systemic reactions upon subsequent natural stings.[1][3][9][11][12]
