AllerT4-T5 is a set of two contiguous overlapping peptides (COPs) derived from the major birch pollen allergen, Bet v 1. It was developed by Anergis as part of its research into ultra-fast allergy immunotherapies. [1, 2] This peptide combination was studied alongside other sets of Bet v 1-derived peptides. [2] In preclinical studies, AllerT4-T5 showed some residual IgE binding and weak reactivity in skin prick tests, in contrast to another combination, AllerT, which was selected for further development due to its lower allergenic potential. [2] The goal of the COP technology is to create peptides that contain all the T-cell epitopes of an allergen to induce immune tolerance, but which lack the conformational IgE epitopes of the native protein, thereby avoiding immediate allergic reactions during therapy. [1, 3]
