Overview
Allisartan medoxomil is a small molecule prodrug developed by Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. It is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) primarily indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension. As a prodrug, it is hydrolyzed to its active metabolite, alisartan (also known as EXP3174), which selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor. This action leads to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. Allisartan medoxomil is administered orally.
