Overview

ALLOB® cells with ceramic scaffold is a first-in-class allogeneic, 'off-the-shelf' tissue-engineered cell therapy product developed by BioSenic (formerly Bone Therapeutics). It consists of allogeneic osteoblastic (bone-forming) cells derived from healthy donor bone marrow, which are then differentiated ex vivo. These cells are combined with a synthetic bioceramic scaffold composed of beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) granules. The product is designed for surgical implantation to promote bone growth and osseointegration, specifically in the context of lumbar interbody spinal fusion for degenerative disc disease. The cells provide osteogenic properties while the scaffold provides a structural matrix for new bone formation. ALLOB has received orphan drug designation from the FDA and EMA for the treatment of osteonecrosis and osteogenesis imperfecta.
