Allogeneic γδ T cells (Beijing 302 Hospital) is an investigational adoptive cell therapy consisting of ex-vivo expanded and activated gamma-delta T lymphocytes derived from healthy blood-related donors. Unlike conventional αβ T cells, γδ T cells recognize antigens in an HLA-unrestricted manner, primarily through their γδ T-cell receptor (TCR) and the NKG2D receptor, which detect phosphoantigens and stress-induced ligands (such as MICA/B) commonly overexpressed in malignant cells. This therapy is being evaluated by Beijing 302 Hospital (the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital) for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In clinical trials (e.g., NCT04518774), these allogeneic cells are administered intravenously, often as part of a combination regimen with PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors and multi-kinase inhibitors like lenvatinib or sorafenib to enhance anti-tumor efficacy.
