**Allogeneic adenovirus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes** are an investigational adoptive cellular immunotherapy consisting of donor-derived T cells selected or expanded for reactivity against human adenovirus antigens. In the Sumithira Vasu-sponsored NCT03665675 pilot study, these cells are administered intravenously to solid-organ or hematopoietic stem-cell transplant recipients with adenovirus reactivation or disease. The intended mechanism is restoration of pathogen-specific cellular immunity: infused adenovirus-reactive cytotoxic T cells recognize adenovirus antigen-presenting infected cells and mediate cytolytic clearance of infected cells in immunocompromised recipients.
