Allogeneic adipose-derived regenerative cells (ADRCs) are a heterogeneous population of cells isolated from the adipose tissue of healthy donors. This cell therapy is being developed by Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet) for the treatment of hypertrophic scars and other regenerative applications. ADRCs consist of a mixture of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), endothelial progenitor cells, and immune cells. Their therapeutic effect is primarily mediated through paracrine signaling, where the cells secrete a variety of growth factors and cytokines that modulate the inflammatory response, promote angiogenesis, and regulate fibroblast activity. In the context of hypertrophic scarring, these cells help to normalize the wound healing process and reduce the excessive collagen deposition that characterizes the condition.
