Overview

Allogeneic BK-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (BKV-CTLs) are a cellular immunotherapy consisting of T cells specifically reactive to BK virus (BKV) that are derived from healthy donors. These cells are designed to restore antiviral immunity in immunocompromised patients suffering from BK virus reactivation. BKV-CTLs can be manufactured from partially HLA-matched third-party donors and stored as an "off-the-shelf" product for rapid administration. The therapy works by providing virus-specific T cells that can recognize and eliminate BKV-infected cells, helping to control viral replication and associated complications such as hemorrhagic cystitis following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
