allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells

This investigational cell therapy consists of allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) developed by MetroHealth Medical Center in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial (NCT03186417) for the treatment of new-onset rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in patients who have moderate to high disease activity despite treatment with methotrexate. The therapy is administered as a single intravenous infusion and works through immunomodulatory mechanisms, aiming to induce immune tolerance and reduce RA disease activity by promoting healthy immune responses. The MSCs used in the trial are sourced from Case Western Reserve University Medical Center.
