Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (BM-MSCs) developed by the Mayo Clinic for the treatment of acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Administered intravenously, the therapy is designed to leverage the immunomodulatory and regenerative properties of MSCs to mitigate the secondary brain injury that follows a hemorrhagic stroke. Preclinical evidence indicates that these cells can rescue injured neurons and modulate the inflammatory environment. A Phase I dose-escalation trial (NCT03371329) has established the safety and feasibility of this treatment in patients with recent ICH, evaluating doses up to 2 million cells/kg.
