This cell therapy product, developed by the Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Cientificas (IVIC), consists of allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) intended for the treatment of periodontal disease. The therapeutic approach involves expanding the MSCs in culture, seeding them onto a collagen scaffold, and incorporating the construct into an autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) clot. This composite is then surgically implanted into periodontal bone defects. The MSCs are hypothesized to facilitate bone regeneration through direct osteogenic differentiation and the release of trophic factors that promote tissue healing and reduce inflammation at the site of the lesion.
