Allogeneic decalcified bone matrix is a biologically derived graft material prepared from donor (allogeneic) human or animal bone that has been processed to remove mineral content (decalcification), typically using acid treatment. The resulting material retains the organic collagenous scaffold and non-collagenous proteins, including growth factors such as bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). This structure provides osteoconductive and osteoinductive properties—supporting new bone formation by serving as a scaffold for cell attachment and migration while also inducing differentiation of mesenchymal cells into chondrocytes and osteoblasts. Allogeneic DBM is used in orthopedic surgery, dental procedures, and tissue engineering for the repair of bony defects due to its biocompatibility, biodegradability, and ability to promote new bone growth[1][2][5][7]. It is not a single pharmaceutical compound but rather a processed biological tissue product.
