Overview

Allogeneic EBV-specific T-cell lines are a form of adoptive cellular immunotherapy developed by Dr. Jean-Sebastien Delisle at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. This biologic therapy consists of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) derived from allogeneic donors (typically first-degree relatives with at least 3/6 HLA compatibility) that are "educated" in the laboratory over approximately two weeks using EBV-specific peptides. The resulting T-cell lines are designed to recognize and eliminate cells infected with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) by targeting viral antigens such as EBNA1, LMP1, and LMP2. This therapy is primarily investigated for the treatment of refractory EBV reactivation, EBV-related post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), and EBV-associated lymphomas in patients following hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplantation.
