Allogeneic engineered gingival fibroblasts (aeGF) is an advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) developed by Scarcell Therapeutics for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The therapy consists of fibroblasts derived from the gingival (gum) tissue of human donors, which are processed and expanded for therapeutic use. Administered via intra-articular injection, aeGF is designed to modulate the joint environment by exerting anti-inflammatory effects, providing pain relief, and potentially promoting the regeneration of damaged cartilage. The use of gingival fibroblasts is based on their unique regenerative properties and immunomodulatory potential compared to other fibroblast sources.
