Allogeneic faecal microbiota is a microbial therapy consisting of a diverse community of microorganisms derived from the stool of a healthy donor. Developed by the University Hospital of Clermont-Ferrand for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), the therapy is based on the hypothesis that gut dysbiosis contributes to the systemic inflammation characteristic of HS. By transplanting a healthy microbiome, the treatment aims to restore intestinal homeostasis, modulate the gut-skin axis, and ultimately reduce the inflammatory load and severity of skin lesions. It is typically administered via colonoscopy, enema, or oral capsules.
