Allogeneic faecal microbiota suspension is an investigational microbial therapy developed by Masaryk University (Masarykova Univerzita) for the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The therapy involves the transfer of a processed suspension of fecal microbiota from healthy donors into the gastrointestinal tract of the recipient. This approach is based on the gut-brain axis hypothesis, which suggests that dysbiosis in the gut microbiome contributes to the behavioral and gastrointestinal symptoms observed in individuals with ASD. By restoring microbial diversity and a healthy community of commensal bacteria, the suspension aims to modulate microbial metabolites and immune signaling, potentially improving core autistic symptoms and overall gut health. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to assess its safety and therapeutic efficacy in pediatric populations.
