Allogeneic fibroblasts is a cell therapy product under development by HMG Biologics for the treatment of chronic refractory wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers or venous leg ulcers. The therapy utilizes fibroblasts sourced from healthy donors, which are processed and applied to the site of injury. These allogeneic cells function by secreting a variety of essential proteins, including collagen, fibronectin, and growth factors (such as VEGF and PDGF), which facilitate the reconstruction of the extracellular matrix, promote angiogenesis, and stimulate the patient's own cells to accelerate the healing process. The program is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical trials.
