Allogeneic granulocyte infusion is an investigational cellular immunotherapy developed by Shanghai East Hospital for the treatment of advanced metastatic cancer. This therapy utilizes granulocytes (white blood cells) harvested from healthy, unrelated donors who exhibit high innate cancer-killing activity, defined as >80% cytotoxicity in a specialized Cancer Killing Assay. Unlike conventional T-cell or NK-cell therapies, this approach relies on the direct, non-MHC-restricted tumoricidal capacity of donor granulocytes. In clinical trials, patients receive high-dose infusions of these selected granulocytes weekly to induce tumor regression. The approach represents a novel anticancer immunotherapy that differs from traditional adaptive immune cell therapies by leveraging the innate direct cancer-killing activity of donor granulocytes.
