Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cytotheryx is developing an allogeneic, off-the-shelf hepatocyte cell therapy for the treatment of acute, chronic, and rare genetic liver diseases. The company utilizes a proprietary bio-incubator platform technology that enables the scalable production of clinical-grade primary human hepatocytes, expanding them up to 1,000-fold while maintaining essential metabolic and synthetic liver functions. The therapy involves the transplantation or infusion of these expanded hepatocytes to replace or augment deficient liver function, serving as a potential alternative to whole liver transplantation. Cytotheryx has also licensed exclusive in vivo hepatocyte selection technology from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to enhance the engraftment and durability of the transplanted cells.
