Allogeneic human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBM-MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells harvested from the bone marrow of healthy donors, expanded in vitro, and administered as a cell therapy. These cells possess significant immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative properties, which are primarily mediated through the secretion of paracrine factors such as cytokines and growth factors. In the context of sarcopenia-osteoporosis syndrome, hBM-MSCs are intended to counteract age-related muscle wasting and bone loss by promoting the differentiation of resident progenitor cells into myocytes and osteoblasts while suppressing chronic systemic inflammation (inflammaging). Guangzhou First People's Hospital is currently evaluating these cells in a Phase 1 clinical trial involving repeated intravenous infusions in elderly patients to assess safety and preliminary efficacy in improving muscle mass, strength, and bone mineral density.
