Overview

Allogeneic human cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hCTMSCs) are an investigational cell therapy being evaluated for the treatment of persistent neuroinflammatory symptoms associated with post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (Long COVID). Developed under the leadership of Dr. Charles S. Cox at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, these cells are derived from human umbilical cord tissue. The therapy aims to address chronic neurological manifestations such as anxiety, depression, pain, sleep disorders, and cognitive impairment ("brain fog") by leveraging the immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of mesenchymal stromal cells. The treatment is administered via intravenous infusion and is currently being studied in a Phase 1/2a dose-escalation trial.
