The allogeneic liposomal melanoma vaccine is an immunotherapy designed to treat metastatic melanoma. It is composed of semisynthetic phospholipids (dimyristol phosphatidylcholine and dimyristol phosphatidylglycerol) and membranes derived from six human melanoma cell lines. These cell lines are selected for their expression of MHC class I and II antigens, as well as a 'mosaic' of melanoma-associated antigens (MAAs). The vaccine aims to induce a cellular immune response against these melanoma-associated antigens, potentially leading to tumor regression. Clinical studies have explored its use alone or in combination with Interleukin-2 (IL-2).
